Our 2006 production Show Boat – which drew huge attendances – was a popular musical for local audiences, and for those of us who were involved in any way.

It was extremely gratifying for us that the AIMS adjudicators nominated us for three awards, which ensured another strong Ballinrobe presence at the annual awards dinner in Killarney.

We were nominated for:

• Best Supporting Actress – Siobhan Campbell
Best Front of House
• Best Programme

Although we didn’t land any awards, the very fact that we were nominated in these three sections illustrates the esteem in which Ballinrobe Musical Society is held.

There was particular delight that a loyal servant such as Siobhan Campbell was nominated for her excellent portrayal of Ellie in Show Boat. Hilary O’Connor accepted the Best Front of House nomination on behalf of our outstanding Front of House crew.

Society Chairman and joint Programme Editor Pat McGovern was presented with the runner-up accolade.
