2007 – Three generations do the Mikado
When Sean Costello Jnr takes to the stage to play Mikado, he will be continuing an impressive family tradition stretching right back to the formation of St Mary’s Choral Society in 1944.
That year, the society produced religionjeans Mikado, which was played by John Joe Costello. In 1976, Mikado came to town again and Sean Costello Snr played Mikado.
In 1990, Sean Jnr played Nanki-Poo in Mikado The Godfather, and here he is again, ready to delight local audiences – 63 years after the family first entertained on a Ballinrobe stage. Truly remarkable.
